Arrive into Kochi and settle into Fort Kochi's colonial quarter. Evening walk past the Chinese fishing nets as the sun goes down.
Drive up to Munnar (around 4 hours) through spice plantations and switchback hill roads. Check into a hill-view stay for two nights.
Full day in the hills: Eravikulam National Park for a chance at spotting the Nilgiri tahr, a stop at a working tea museum, and a sunset viewpoint at Top Station.
Descend to Alleppey (around 4 hours). Board your private houseboat by early afternoon and cruise the backwaters into the evening.
