Tips You Won't Find in a Guidebook
Ghumakkad Insider Tips
- 01Tanah Lot is mobbed at sunset — visit around 8am instead, when the temple is nearly empty and the light on the rocks is just as good.
- 02Ubud's Monkey Forest gets boisterous once vendors start feeding the macaques mid-morning — arrive right at opening (8:30am) if you don't want a monkey on your shoulder uninvited.
- 03Canggu's beach clubs charge a "minimum spend" that's really a cover charge in disguise — ask your expert which ones waive it on weekday afternoons.
- 04Nyepi (Balinese New Year, usually in March) shuts the entire island down for 24 hours — no flights, no lights, no leaving your hotel. Beautiful if you plan around it, brutal if you don't.

Very — English is widely spoken in tourist areas, ATMs are everywhere, and the flight from most Indian metros is under 7 hours, usually via Singapore or Kuala Lumpur.
Both, in different zones. Ubud and Uluwatu lean quiet and romantic, while Seminyak and Nusa Dua have the pools and buffet breakfasts families want. We split the itinerary accordingly.
Easier than most of Southeast Asia — Ubud in particular has a large health-food and vegetarian cafe scene. Tell us if you need Jain-friendly options and we'll flag them specifically.

“We didn't plan a single day ourselves, and it was the best decision of the trip.”
“The kids still talk about Waterbom more than they talk about the beach.”
